Yo Babies

A couple of weekends ago we were delighted to host our first ever house-guests - for a whole weekend! My dear friend from way-back (truly) came down to visit with her husband and twin baby girls. While the boys did boy stuff (tinkering, chatting, Cabela's shopping) we girls had a gay old time eating, drinking, and being merry.

I have to admit to a bit of trepidation over the idea of hosting guests for the weekend. We've had folks spend the night here and there, but those were usually transitory affairs, stopovers between home and the airport, or convenient sleeping spots closer to a destination. This was a full-blown, stock-the-fridge-and-find-the-airbed-pump event, and I loved every minute of it. Granted, these friends are the easy kind, the type who are happy to laze about and chit chat, or run an errand, etc.

Lena and I took the kiddos to MY first ever Oregon Trail Days event in downtown Tenino, at the park, which was fun - picture down-home folks eating hot dogs, egging on the dunk tank boy and, um, enjoying the black powder shoot (ok, not very standard, unless you're in Tenino). The weather was fine, the crowds not obnoxious, and my $1 hotdog from the Littlerock Fire Department booth quite tasty.

The most memorable part of the weekend had to be the Toddler Demonstration of the Art of Eating Yogurt back at the farm on Saturday afternoon. Paul, after observing a mini-encore Sunday morning, said, "Wow, babies sure do make a mess." :)

Watch and learn, friends. This demonstration provided by the Boomars sisters, professional yogurt eaters.
